The Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation "KAHRAMAA" has entered the Guinness World Records for the "Largest Drinking Water Storage Tank in the World" and achieved a new world record for Qatar with its major strategic water tanks project, according to Lusail News.

The Guinness World Records on its official website and in the approved certificate received by the Foundation indicated that the volume of the largest water tank of its kind in the world constitutes of 436,633.45 cubic meters, which equals to 96,045,931.74 Imperial Gallons and 115,346,354.61 US Gallons. This record reflects the efficiency of Kahramaa's strategy to enhance water security in the country.

The Foundation announced that the entry of the major strategic water tanks project, the Guinness Book of Records, the largest drinking water reservoir in the world, represents a new success in the foundation’s march with the support of the wise leadership.

Achieving this world record reflects the strategic importance of the project as the backbone of water security in Qatar, as it meets the country's aspirations to raise the strategic water reserve and secure it for various regions, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030, and the Foundation works to raise the level of efficiency of its networks to provide the best services to all sectors.

This, and the major strategic water reservoirs project supports KAHRAMAA’s goals in supporting the comprehensive development process that the country is witnessing, as part of its strategy to enhance water security for the State of Qatar, and within the framework of its keenness to meet the country's water needs and provide a sustainable and high-quality service in accordance with the best international and local standards. KAHRAMAA had launched the major strategic water tanks project in December 2018, which is a boom in the field of water storage, as the largest expansion the country has ever seen, with a total capacity of about 1,500 million gallons, covering storage needs until 2026, and comes in implementation of the vision of His Highness the Emir The beneficial country to achieve water security for the state, as the project adds storage capacity that exceeds what has been established in Qatar over the past years, which enhances the water security of countries through a safe and balanced strategic stock that ensures the flow of water to all sectors and meets the increasing needs in light of the population growth and the comprehensive development that The country is witnessing.

Kahramaa plans to expand the project in the future, bringing the number of tanks to 40 tanks with a capacity of approximately 4000 million gallons, in line with the state's requirements for water until 2036.
