Kahramaa is about to award a general tender for the installation and operation of 100 electric charging stations around Qatar. The charging stations will be installed at vital locations such as intersections, shopping malls, government buildings, hotels, as well as Metro station parking during 2021. The stations' capacities will vary according to the location.
Around 20 percent of the stations will be implemented with renewable and clean energy systems.
This tender comes within the framework of the joint work plan between the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) to establish an integrated network of stations, in coordination with a number of institutions in the country such as the Ministry of Municipality and Environment, the General Traffic Department and others.
Kahramaa, through the national program "Tarsheed", seeks to provide a healthy and safe environment for future generations in line with Qatar Vision 2030, by promoting sustainability and reducing harmful carbon emissions, in order to achieve the commitment to Qatar National Strategy 2018-2022 to reduce one million tons annually of harmful carbon emissions in the State of Qatar.
