Kahramaa-All-Set-To-Tackle-Peak-Energy-Demand-For-Summer
Electricity consumption during this summer is expected to increase by 10 percent compared to last summer, according to Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). Kahramaa is gearing up to meet the high demand and possible overloading. Only a few employees have been given annual leaves this summer to mobilise the maximum number of workforce, especially engineers and technicians to meet any emergency situations, the corporation has said. Procedures to access sensitive places in government premises have been upgraded and the employees assigned there have been equipped with safety gears. The corporation is doing maintenance at its sub stations and is installing new equipment to avoid any possible power outage due to technical glitches during peak hours. The corporation also vowed to ensure enough electricity supply to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) when consumption is expected to surge. Kahramaa is also ready to supply power to other GCC countries in case of emergency or if they needed electricity for any other reasons, Al Sharq reported yesterday. A report about the expected increase in electricity consumption at some power stations has been submitted to the department concerned to take further action. Source : Qatar Chronicle
