Qatar Telecom (Qtel) yesterday signed an agreement with Jumbo Electronics which will allow it to offer the full range of the former's services, such as payment of bills, sale of GSM postpaid and Hala prepaid SIM cards, recharge cards and e-vouchers.
At a press conference held at the Qtel Tower yesterday, Waleed Al Sayed, Qtel Executive Director (Customer Services), said: "This is a strategic partnership and part of our strategy to increase our channels for customers. People need to be close to Qtel products and services and this tie-up is a convenient way for subscribers to pay their bills."
At the outset, the services will be available at Jumbo outlets on Musheireb Street, The Centre, City Center and Najma. "We are depending on Jumbo to provide the products and services and we hope the customer finds it convenient," said Al Sayed. C V Rappai, Jumbo Director and General Manager said it was a matter of prestige to have tied up with a big company like Qtel. "We have been traditional partners with Qtel for many years and we have very ambitious plans for this relationship," he said.
The services will soon be spread out to all parts of the country through Jumbo's 12 existing showrooms in addition to more outlets to be opened soon. "For our 250 or so corporate clients, we will be collecting their bills in the future. This will take place gradually, hopefully in the next three months," said Rappai.
Mohammed Al Marri, Qtel Senior Manager for 3rd Party Sales and Distribution, told reporters: "We have a clear plan and in two to three months will offer the full range of services. We have a dedicated account manager to make this happen."
