Japan Booth” at the 23rd Doha International Book Fair

Japan is participating at the 23rd Doha International Book Fair to be held at Doha Exhibition Center organized by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage from December 12 to 22, as the Guest of Honor. It will be the concluding event of the project “Qatar Japan 2012” to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Japan-Qatar diplomatic relations. The Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with the Support Committee for the 40th Anniversary Events, will set up the “Japan Booth”. The “Japan Booth” will be composed of three zones. The first zone is for the display of Japanese books and traditional culture by the Japan Foundation, the Publishers’ Association for Cultural Exchange (PACE), and the Embassy of Japan. The second zone is for the sale of books by Books Kinokuniya (Dubai Branch). In the third zone, a lot of events on Japanese pop and modern culture will take place. The “Japan Booth” can draw the visitors’ interests in Japanese culture and deepen their knowledge on Japan. The major events and guests from Japan are as follows; a) Cosplay (costume play) Show on Dec. 14-15 by Ms. Kanna (costume play designer) b) Kawaii (Cute) Fashion Show on Dec. 21-22 by Ms. Misako Aoki (former Kawaii Ambassador) and Ms. Fumiko Kawamura (fashion designer) *These Cosplay and Fashion Shows are produced by Mr. Takamasa Sakurai (contents media producer) with the participation of volunteer models living in Qatar. c) Talk Show on Dec. 15-16 by Ms. Sumire Uesaka (voice actress) d) Lecture on Robot on Dec. 14-15 by Mr. Tomotaka Takahashi (robot creator) e) Lecture on Introduction to Japan’s pop culture for children in the morning hours by Mr. Takamasa Sakurai The Embassy would like to welcome all of you at the “Japan Booth” where many cultural events are introduced along with the display and sale of books.
