Qatar Airways cancelled two flights – one to Washington and New York - scheduled yesterday and one return flight from New York to Doha due to the bad weather conditions caused by Hurricane Irene in the east coast of United States. Flight QR51 from Doha International Airport to Dulles International Airport, Washington DC; Flight QR83 from Doha to JFK International Airport, New York and Flight QR84 from JFK to Doha were the three flights mentioned as ‘cancelled’ on the national carrier’s website today. “As Hurricane Irene moves up the US East Coast we are experiencing disruptions to our flights arriving and departing New York (JFK) and Washington, DC (IAD) airports,” the Qatar Airways said in its travel advisory. Qatar Airways is currently monitoring the situation in New York and Washington, DC and has urged passengers to check the website for further flight status updates. Other carriers from the GCC including Emirates and Etihad Airways too issued travel advisories due to the heavy rains and storm in the east coast of US. http://www.thepeninsulaqatar.com/qatar/163073-irene-forces-qatar-airways-to-cancel-three-us-flights.html
