The InterContinental hotel is preparing to launch its latest beach party later this month as a number of artists from the Ministry of Sound get set to perform on September 29 as part of their world tour. The tour is celebrating 20 years of what is generally regarded as the ‘home of dance music’ and one of the strongest record labels in the world. Doha’s event will feature Dutch DJ, Nicky Romero, a vocal set from Anna Grace (also known as Ian Van Dahl), a live performance from Amanda Wilson and DJ sets from Diablo V, as well as Doha’s own Paul Mendez and Jared McCulloch. McCulloch, who is organising as well as playing at the event, said that he was hoping to see around 2,000 guests at the party next Thursday, providing a strong launch to the upcoming season of parties and events. “We have reduced the ticket price and there are less restrictions, so we are hoping to see a strong turnout for the first beach party of the year,” he said. After the success of the Big Day Out, which featured a number of international and local bands, McCulloch explained that he is organising another similar event which should take place at the beginning of next year, but for now is returning to what he knows and loves best with more DJ-orientated music. “Nicky Romero is one of the most prolific producers around at the moment, and he is on the verge of major stardom,” he said, adding “we like to support big names as well as those who are going to be huge in the future.” “Anna Grace is a major star, and Amanda Wilson’s hit ‘Bromance’ has been topping charts around the world and has received over 50 million hits on YouTube,” he said. “Ministry of Sound resident DJ, Diablo V is also going to be on the decks, as well as top 100 and Lava Resident DJ, Paul Mendez,” he added. McCulloch, who founded Global DJs, is also the resident DJ at Club Seven, and said that he is looking forward to performing as part of the Ministry of Sound party next weekend. He explained that the event will feature merchandise and other activities, including the possibility of bungee-jumping, which is unconfirmed at the moment, but may be part of the festivities. Tickets are available from the InterContinental, Columbiano Coffee, Crepaway and Virgin Megastores from today, and they are priced at QR150 for women, QR200 for men and QR350 for VIP tickets. Online ticket sales are also available at www.virginmegastore.com. Doors will open at 8pm and the event is only open to guests over the age of 21 with Qatar ID or passport identification. Gulf Times
