The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Qatar will be hosting a seminar on “Internal Audit in Governance and Regulation” and “IT Security – Changing Legal Landscape in Qatar” on Sunday at Oryx Rotana Hotel. Ewald Müller who is the director of financial analysis at the Qatar Financial Centre Regulatory Authority (QFCRA) will give a presentation on how standard setters need to collaborate towards achieving one set of high-quality, global reporting and auditing standards. He will further emphasise on how regulators strive for consistent principles across industries and look for internal audit to play a pivotal role by enhancing reporting and interactions. Samir K Pawaskar, Cyber Security Strategy and Policy manager at ictQATAR, will speak on IT security. He will provide an insight into the various new digital policies and legislation planned in Qatar. This includes Data Privacy Law, Critical Information Infrastructure Protection law etc. “There is paucity of presenters on topic like internal audit in governance and regulations since it is still a nascent subject. Muller with his global and regional experience is expected to provide the right pointers to auditors to take it further at their workplace. The other topic, cyber security, is often discussed for technical issues but knowing the relevant legislation from an expert can make a big difference,” said Sundaresan Rajeswar, board member and past president, the IIA Qatar.
