The Supreme Education Council (SEC) has asked all Independent schools to strictly respect the national flag and the protocol which defines its proper placement, handling and use. A circular issued by the Education Institute at the SEC has encouraged Independent schools to instil in their students a sense of national belonging, respect and patriotism by honouring the national flag. The national flag should be treated with respect; it should be hoisted in a position of honour and never allowed to touch the ground. A flag that is no longer in good condition should be disposed of in a dignified manner.
