Qatar sees inflation easing as the dollar strengthens and supply bottlenecks are resolved, the country's finance minister said yesterday. "We are heading toward an easing of inflation.... (because) of the improvement of the dollar exchange rate, decline in shipping costs and the supply bottlenecks are beginning to disappear in the GCC," Qatar's Finance and Economy Minister H E Yousuf Hussein Kamal told reporters after a Gulf finance ministers meeting. He also said there was no link between the region's currency pegs to the dollar and inflation, and Gulf financial markets were unaffected by this week's global financial turmoil. Reuters
