DOHA: The latest Consumer Price Index released by Qatar Statistics Authority yesterday shows the rate of inflation in Qatar to be 3.7 percent in a year until last April. The CPI for April 2013 reached 114, showing an increase of 0.1 percent compared to March this year and an increase of 3.7 percent compared to April 2012. The highest price increase — 8.2pc — was recorded in the category “entertainment, recreation and culture” followed by “rent, fuel and energy’’ which was 6.2 percent. Furniture, textiles and home appliances saw an increase of 3.1pc. Price increases have been recorded in all the categories except “miscellaneous goods and services” where they declined by 0.6 percent. Source : Qatar Chronicle
