NDTV reported on 13 March 2023 that a Doha-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi, India had to make an emergency landing in Karachi, Pakistan, due to a medical emergency onboard.
As per the report, a passenger identified as a 60-year-old Nigerian male had fallen ill inflight and consequently passed away upon landing. This information was provided in a statement from members of the airline to the Indian media.
It was also reported that the flight was allowed to depart from Karachi and returned to Delhi with the body of the passenger who passed away.
The flight had only departed from Karachi after five hours due to procedures and a death certificate that had to be issued by Pakistani authorities.
