In an unexpected move, the Supreme Education Council has issued a directive to Independent schools to cancel the registration of all expatriate students in certain grades, reports Al Sharq. The move apparently is aimed at providing more seats to Qatari students. There had been complaints about shortage of seats in Independent schools with a number of students remaining in the wait list every year. The directive applies to students who have been promoted from a lower level to an upper level in the academic ladder. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=May2009&file=Local_News200905223202.xml
