In line with Qatar’s Human Resources Law, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has initiated steps to promote Qatarisation of jobs in the Independent Schools. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, Sabah Al Haidoos, director of the Education Institute at SEC, said Independent Schools that encourage Qatarisation will get several incentives, including special allowances, bonuses and other benefits. She said all competent Qatari staff at the Ministry of Education will be absorbed into the SEC and the Independent Schools when the integration of the Ministry with the SEC is completed. The remaining staff will be enrolled for a one-year course to enhance their skills, after which they will be employed in suitable positions in the SEC. A committee has been assigned to prepare regulations that will ensure job security for the Qatari staff at the SEC and the Independent Schools. A number of procedures are in place to encourage Independent School operators to recruit more Qatari staff and smoothen the process of job placements and settlement of job-related disputes. Each school operator is required to provide a list of all the teachers to the SEC along with details about their credentials. This is to verify their qualifications and ensure they are competent. The operators are also required to prepare a three-year Qatarisation plan showing the number of Qatari staff they would recruit in the said period. http://thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local_News&subsection=Qatar+News&month=June2009&file=Local_News2009061164033.xml
