The iLoveQatar.net team was declared champions of the first QSports Ramadan Volleyball championship for women on Wednesday evening. ILQ beat the Angry Birds team in the final 2 sets to 1 and after remaining undefeated throughout the league and knock out stages of the competition were worthy champions. Team Captain – Faye Castro was delighted with the performance of the ILQ team who after some early nerves in the final started to produce some excellent defense countering the aggressive Angry Birds attack. The league which has also been supported by iLoveQatar.net and Go Sports is the first volleyball tournament for women launched by QSports Leagues. Qasim Khalid – QSports representative explained – ‘thanks to the support of the Qatar Olympic Committee and our sponsors we have been delighted to see such a successful women’s volleyball tournament during Ramadan - we hope to repeat this success when we launch a full league during September – as always it will be open to all residents of Qatar’ Mr Khalifa Saleh Al Haroon – a young Qatari entrepreneur and founder of iLoveQatar.net congratulated the ILQ Team on their victory ‘we are delighted to work in partnership with QSports – promoting sports and a healthy lifestyle in Qatar and I’m thrilled that the team we sponsored were champions’ Team ILQ will be awarded their medals and trophies at an official prize ceremony on Saturday evening at Al Wakra Sports Stadium.
