The Ideal Fiesta 2012, the latest edition of the two-day annual fundraising extravaganza at the Ideal Indian School, will be held at the new school campus in Abu Hamour on May 3-4. At a briefing yesterday, school governing body officials said as in the previous years the organisers had received good response from a large number of outlets for taking part in the event to be held at the new campus for the first time. Already the school authorities have signed up with a number of restaurants who have expressed their desire to set up stalls at the venue. The fiesta is likely to attract some 35,000 visitors. Emtry tickets are priced at QR5 a person and a raffle draw for a Kia Saloon car will also be held to mark the occasion. For participating in the raffle draw, one needs to buy a ticket for QR10. The school authorities said proceeds from the event would go towards building additional but essential infrastructure facilities for the institution. Explaining the reasons for holding the event, they said the school had built many of its requirements in the past with the assistance from the event and it is generally felt the latest fiesta would continue to provide the same kind of support to the institution. The finances for additional requirements such as shelter for children, shelter for buses, swimming pool, and multipurpose stadium are partly generated through the fiesta. The school authorities said the fiesta was one of the well-attended events in the Indian community, with the participation of many other expatriate and local communities. The school caters to about 30 nationalities with students numbering close to 6,000. It was also disclosed that the new school had received ISO 9001:2008 certification. One of the main highlights of the event this year is Tranz 2012, a reality cinematic dance show, featuring teams from 8 to 15 members, all below 22 years. Attractive prizes are at stake for the winners, said the organisers. Inquiries could be had on 44684849/55229835. More details of the event are available on the school website. School managing committee president M P Hassan Kunhi, general secretary B T Moiduppa, chairman of the steering committee of the fiesta M I Farid, senior community member M S Bukhari, school principal Mohamed Aejaz and head of English Khurshid Alam Salar were present at the briefing.
