Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (ictQatar) has urged students aged 14 to 18 to register for a new competition ‘TumuhaTEC Programme.’ The programme seeks to introduce more youngsters to the benefits and opportunities ICT industry can provide. Theme of the competition is ‘YouTube Me’; for which students can apply at TumuhaTEC’s email tumuhatlec:@ict.gov.qa until February 2. The contestants will be required to create three to five minutes videos and post them on YouTube. In these videos they should speak spontaneously about their dream jobs; explaining to what extent they believe information and communication technologies are key to their success in these jobs and if there would be any difference in the way they do these jobs with and without technologies. Students should apply to the competition in teams. Each team should have three students. Each team should be able to produce, edit and publish its own video on YouTube after attending a mandatory two-day workshop to be organised by TumuhaTEC where a group of Qatari trainers will teach the applicants professional video making techniques. Moreover, TumuhaTEC is providing a fully equipped studio where students can film their videos. At the end of the competition, best videos will be selected and honoured. The videos will be displayed at the Qatar Career Fair in April. The Qatar Career Fair is the strategic partner to the competition. The Peninsula
