Hygiene to be maintained during Eid Al Fitr with over 2,500 staff and 300 vehicles deployed

The Peninsula Newspaper reported on 15 April 2023 that the General Cleanliness Department at the Ministry of Municipality is working to maintain high hygiene standards during Eid Al Fitr by deploying over 2,500 staff and 300 vehicles and equipment.

As per the report, the Director of the General Cleanliness Department, Muqbil Madhour Al Shammari, had mentioned that even special vehicles to clear large domestic waste like furniture have been deployed as many families dispose of and change furniture and appliances during the time of Eid.

The top official had been talking to Qatar Radio, where he mentioned that the cleaning operations will primarily be focusing on roads, public places like beaches, and public parks, which are highly populated during Eid.

He had mentioned that, “A number of teams comprising 2,526 workforces have been assigned to ensure a smooth cleaning operation during the festivity”.

Furthermore, it was added that the deployed teams are equipped with 96 sweeping machines and 242 vehicles for collecting waste.

Muqbil Madhour Al Shammari also mentioned that the teams were allocated to different municipalities such as Doha, Al Rayyan, Al Dayeen, Al Khor, Al Wakra, Umm Salal, and Al Sheehaniya

It was also mentioned that the intensification of the cleaning drive is part of the Qatar National Vision 2030 to bring sustainability to the country.
