Embracing Qatar’s vision for a healthy, safe, friendly and beautiful environment, the management and staff of Hyatt Plaza Mall celebrated the Qatar National Day by contributing positively to the achievement of that vision. Launching the 1-Million-Tree Campaign on their premises, the General Manager of Hyatt Plaza, Feroz Moideen, said: “We salute the wise leadership and government of Qatar for hosting the UN Climate change conference in Doha as it opened our eyes towards our individual and corporate responsibility and provided us the inspiration to contribute towards an environmental friendly shopping experience and ambience to our customers and mall visitors.” Over the years the name Hyatt Plaza has become popular with those who value quality, safety, and freedom of choice for themselves and their families. The Jungle Zone theme children’s play area alone attracts over a quarter million little kids each year. The parents shop in complete confidence of a secure and friendly environment around them offering the best of branded quality. The food outlets conform to the highest standards of nutritional value, hygienic kitchen areas, and eating comfort. No wonder then that the 1-Million-Tree plantation took off from Hyatt Plaza Mall, a name that has become synonymous with being an ‘ideal family destination’. The drive is a major initiative of the group of Sheikh Mohammad Bin Talal Al Thani, and Hyatt Plaza management supported the initiative by inviting staff and volunteers to plant trees all along tracks surrounding their large parking area. The Qatar National flag fluttered in the gentle breeze as hundreds of different kinds of trees and plants were placed into the soil and water poured to give them fresh life. Children helped parents as the whole campaign took on a festival atmosphere. Mr. Moideen highlighted the fact that achievement of three core objectives will transform this campaign into a national vision: q Inculcate the spirit of tree plantation in every home q Provide a ‘green touch’ to the massive concrete and glass towers dotting the skyscape of Qatar q Encourage corporations and organizations to sponsor tree plantation campaign everywhere “We should all ask ourselves: ‘As business owners what can we give to Qatar?’ The answer should automatically be: ‘Anything that makes Qatar the most beautiful country in the world’. Going green and planting one tree per person or family is a great way to start. We owe it to the leadership and people of Qatar to play our part in the beautification of the country. Hyatt Plaza management believes in contributing to the society that has made us successful. Now we want all other malls in the country to join us in this noble cause.” At the beginning of an exciting day, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Talal Al Thani, put the shovel to the ground and planted a sapling to the great delight of hundreds of onlookers. He expressed his total confidence in the initiative becoming an on-going passion if every organization and corporation in the country recognized its value to the entire society. At the conclusion of an exciting day, special flowers were planted by all present. Teams and families planted their own “family tree” in specially designated areas. Placards prominently displayed their family names, type of tree or plant, and the date of plantation. They were told to take “ownership” of its continuous health and growth. Hyatt Plaza management deserves credit for creating “Family tree concept” where shoppers at the mall can plant a tree and give it their name. This will ensure both pride and responsibility as families can watch their “little child” grow into a “tall handsome tree” over the years. The Peninsula
