In celebration of the Second Annual Dhow Festival, Katara the Cultural Village organized workshops which taught arts and crafts, fishing and Dhow building with traditional tools. The workshops which were delivered to local schools across Doha, including children from Shafallah, also featured traditional story telling. The Second Annual Dhow Festival which opened on Tuesday 13th November will continue until Saturday 17th November at Katara’s Esplanade. Twenty schools participated in the workshops, including Al Manar School, the Lebanese School, Khalifa Independent School for Boys, the Qatar Canadian School and Omama Primary School for Girls. Ahmed Al Hitmi, Dhow Festival Committee Manager commented: “Qatar has invested heavily in education and we want to contribute to this by sharing knowledge from our heritage with our future generations, so they too can carry on this legacy. We are proud to see children enjoying the workshops which bring entertainment to education.” ILQ NEWS
