Free tests for blood sugar, blood pressure and body mass index were conducted for the visitors by paramedics from the Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and several private hospitals and clinics. A few cases of high blood sugar and high blood pressure were also detected during the tests. Doctors from HMC were available to attend such cases. The health stand was set up near Asian Games Mascot Orry on the Corniche, where a series of other activities also took place to mark the National Sports Day. The events were held by SCH in collaboration with 23 companies and organisations, including the Qatar Olympic Committee. The free medical tests were available from 9am until noon. “We received hundreds of visitors since morning including several families. There were people who underwent the tests for the first time and were found to be diabetic. A number of diabetics also came to check their blood sugar level,” said a senior nurse from HMC. She said some visitors with high blood sugar and high blood pressure had been kept under observation by the medical team. However, none was hospitalised. The Peninsula
