Qatar is expected to witness a hotter and more humid day today with humidity levels reaching up to 90 percent at night, a weather forecaster said.
The maximum temperatures forecast for today range between 40 and 43 degrees C (40 degrees in Al Ruwais, 42 degrees C in Doha, and 43 degrees C in Al Wakra and Messaieed).
Nightly temperatures will hover at between 29 and 33 degrees C (29 degrees C in Al Wakra and Messaieed, 33 degrees in Doha, 30 degrees in Al Khor).
However, high humidity levels at night would likely make the weather uncomfortable. Humidity levels are expected to be between 80 and 90 percent at night.
Humidity varied between 70 and 80 percent yesterday and at 9.32pm when the weather bureau was contacted for inputs, the humidity level was 74 percent.
It was slightly less humid because the wind was northwesterly. Easterly winds cause more humidity.
Asked why it is rather unbearably hot this summer, the weather forecaster said that it is because temperatures are higher as compared with last year.
“This is true not only of Qatar but the entire region. The whole region is witnessing higher mercury levels this summer and when you have high humidity levels, you feel hotter and more uncomfortable,” commented the forecaster.
