A massive fire lasting more than four hours broke out in a compound housing a warehouse and bachelor accommodation of a business group in Shahra Al-Asmakh yesterday afternoon. No one was injured. There were reports of massive losses although their estimates were not known until late in the evening. Some roofing work was reportedly going on at an old building when the fire broke out, sources said. However, nothing could be confirmed as the compound’s owners remained tight-lipped. A number of bachelors were reportedly inside the accommodation when the fire broke out. They escaped unhurt as civil defence personnel evacuated them promptly. Inmates of the neighbouring buildings were also instructed to leave their houses as a precautionary measure.
