Gillian Higgins, sports and remedial therapist for horses and humans and founder of Horses Inside Out, will give a talk in Doha on November 8 as part of the Arabian Performance Show. “Gillian’s informative and interactive talk will be held at the Qatar Equestrian Federation’s (QEF’s) Indoor Arena at 11am,” an official said yesterday. Entry for the event is free. “Horses Inside Out is an organisation which gives insight into how the horse works,” the official said. “Gillian has a passion for anatomy, art and the welfare of the horse; attributes she has now combined into Horses Inside Out,” the official added. “Early on in her career, she realised that many riders and horse owners were coming across the same problems with their horses, stiffness, sore muscles and even mild lameness. She realised if they understood the anatomy of their horses they would be able to train more effectively, reduce the risk of injury and ensure horses had a more comfortable and stress free life. “Gillian began by giving small talks to groups of interested riders, painting various anatomical systems on the side of the horse. This has evolved into Horses Inside Out and Gillian is now in demand all over the world.” She gives talks to dressage judges, universities, clubs, groups of professionals and individuals. “Elite sportsmen take care of their bodies and Gillian is keen that equine athletes should be given the same benefits,” the official said. “Through Horses Inside Out she now runs a series of conferences, biomechanics and equine massage courses.” Gillian visits dressage, eventing and racing yards on an individual basis showing owners and managers how they can look after their horse’s muscular skeletal systems and keep their bodies in tip top condition. She looks at the effect of the rider on the horse and how combinations work together to obtain the best results. Gillian has written two books and a DVD. The official said more information about the lecture would be be available on phone number 66902003. Gulf Times
