Holiday Inn to Make its Doha Debut
Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park to be located in the heart of the city’s business district InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, is to open Qatar’s first ever Holiday Inn hotel, Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park, following a deal signed today with Trans Orient Establishment. The new-build hotel will be located just two kilometres from Doha International Airport in The Business Park precinct, the heart of the capital’s business district. It will sit next to another IHG hotel, Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park, which is also owned by Trans Orient Establishment. The 347-room hotel will feature a 1200m² ballroom and supporting meeting rooms, as well as three food and beverage outlets, including an all-day dining restaurant and lobby lounge. Sheikh Jassim Bin Mohamed Al Thani, Vice Chairman of Trans Orient Establishment, commented: “We are very excited to be extending our partnership with IHG. We are proud of the newly-opened Crowne Plaza Doha – The Business Park, which has already proved itself a firm success. Adding Holiday Inn Doha – The Business Park to the mix means that we will be able to offer something for every traveller.” The new hotel continues a strong growth trajectory for the brand in the region, with 25 Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express hotels currently open in the Middle East. There are seven other Holiday Inn hotels that are due to come online in the next five years, with all but one of these set to be in the GCC. Pascal Gauvin, Chief Operating Officer, India, Middle East and Africa for IHG, added: “Every year 100 million people stay at Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotels around the world, and three people check into one every second. Out of all our hotel brands, Holiday Inn is one of our biggest and we are confident that it will find success in Qatar.” Holiday Inn, which turned 60 last year, boasts a long history in the region, with the first Holiday Inn hotel opening in 1977 in Oman. Today, there are 3,414 properties in the Holiday Inn brand family globally, with another 682 due to open over the next five years. - ILQ News -
