The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has launched an investigation into the death of a patient in the maternity ward of the Women's Hospital last Thursday(October 16). The woman was also an employee of HMC. In a statement issued yesterday, Dr Badr Al Din Ahmed of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Women's Hospital said, the patient was treated by a medical team according to the international standards observed in such cases. He added that from a medical point of view it was one of the rare cases reported to the department. "An intensive investigation is under way concerning the patient's death by competent authorities and the results will be announced upon its completion," said the statement.
