HH the Amir sends condolences to New Zealand for deadly mosque attack

The Qatar News Agency reported that HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani sent on Friday (March 15) a cable of condolences to HE Governor-General of New Zealand Patsy Reddy, expressing his strong condemnation and denunciation of the terrorist attack which took place on Friday at two mosques in Christchurch, New Zealand.

In the cable, HH the Amir stressed the State of Qatar's firm stance on rejecting terrorism and extremism, regardless of motives and reasons. His Highness expressed condolences to the innocent victims, wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

Meanwhile, in a statement on the same day, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated the State of Qatar's firm stance on rejecting violence and terrorism, regardless of motives and reasons.

Following the condemnation on the deadly attack were the leaders of the European Union which called it "a senseless act of brutality on innocent people in their place of worship."

Earlier today, an extremist gunman targeted worshipers attending Friday prayers in Christchurch, New Zealand, killing 49 people, according to the latest report by the country's police.
