Zara Al Shaikh, the 13 year-old-daughter of one of Hamad Medical Corporation’s senior clinical leaders, Dr. Loua Al Shaikh is having chemotherapy to treat leukemia in the United Kingdom.
She urgently needs a blood stem cell donation to save her life. Unfortunately a matching donor hasn’t yet been found for her, so her family is appealing for people to be tested as potential blood stem cell donors.
Hamad Medical Corporation is holding special screening sessions this week.
The Screening Center, which is located in a Mobile Blood Donor Unit parked next to the Blood Donor Center at Hamad General Hospital, will be open for volunteers 2pm to 8pm until Thursday 25 February.
The screening requires a simple blood test and some other basic health checks.
Those attending must bring one of the following: passport, Qatari ID/Residency Card/Health Care Card.
As we have been able to refine the search, anyone over 18 years of age is urged to volunteer to be tested, regardless of blood type.
