The Ministry of Health has opened an all-new Quality Department, which will ensure quality undertakings by all healthcare facilities in Qatar, it was learnt yesterday. Announcing the new department in a press conference was its director Dr Aisha al-Zeyada who said that the three-month-old department had been granted establishment approval by Emiri decree 13, 2005. “We had not been able to fully establish the quality department due to the transition process from the National Health Authority to the Ministry of Health,” she noted. She explained that the department was established to look into the general situation of healthcare system in the country, adding that its activities will cover all hospitals including primary healthcare centres as well as private hospitals. “Our structure, set up under the infrastructure ISO 9001 2008, is already finished and awaiting further approval from the Minister Sheikha Ghalia bint Mohamed al-Thani,” she said.
