HBKU’s QEERI receives high level scientific delegation from Japan

Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute (QEERI), part of Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU), recently welcomed high-ranking delegates from Japan’s scientific community, who were accompanied by His Excellency Seiichi Otsuka, the Ambassador of Japan to Qatar. Touring QEERI’s state-of-the-art facilities were Professor Teruo Kishi, Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan; Professor Yoshio Bando, Executive Advisor for Materials Nanoarchitectonics (MANA) at the National Institute of Material Sciences (NIMS); Masahiro Takemura, Director for Structural Materials for Innovation, Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST); and Kana Asano, Science and Technology Researcher, Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Japan. During their visit to QEERI, delegates met with Dr. Richard O’Kennedy, Vice President for Research, Development and Innovation at Qatar Foundation and Vice President for Research at HBKU; Dr. Marc Vermeersch, Executive Director at QEERI; and management and staff of the research institute. QEERI aims to tackle the grand challenges of the Qatar and the region by conducting groundbreaking research and providing robust data that may influence policymaking for future sustainability, environment, energy and water security.
