Under the directives of H.E. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Hassad assigned to manage the three Central Markets located in Al Wakra, Um Salal, and A'Sailiyah.

Accordingly, Aswaq for food facilities Management Company (a subsidiary of Hassad) was founded, to manage and operate all three central markets - in coordination with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

CEO of Hassad Mohamed bin Badr Al Sadah commented on the occasion "It's our pleasure to announce the establishment of the new company; Aswaq for food facilities management. The company will develop and manage all three central markets to ensure the needs of the traders, producers, and customers are all met".

Mohamed Ghaneem Al Kubaisi the newly appointed General Manager of Aswaq commented, "We will give the primacy to the local produce in all three central markets, with the aim of achieving the national vision and to contribute to the country's self-sufficiency efforts".

The central markets are scheduled to open before the end of the year. Aswaq has already outlined the allocation process, evaluation criteria and the tenants' obligations, which will be announced soon.
