This weekend, from 24 to 26 November, sees Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), under the patronage of the Ministry of Public Health, hold Qatar’s First International Wound Management Conference at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).

The conference, which has around 1,500 delegates already registered, will be attended by renowned international speakers on the subject of wound care. It will share the most modern scientific applications in the treatment of wounds resulting from chronic diseases such as diabetes and will look at ways to improve the wound care system by offering innovative ideas on prevention, treatment, management and research.

Dr. Yousef Al Maslamani, Medical Director for Hamad General Hospital (HGH) at HMC and the Scientific Committee Chair for the conference thanked the external partners and sponsors for their support of this first ever wound management conference. He said: “This is an important milestone for wound care services in Qatar and we are very thankful for the kind and generous support of all of our sponsors, and especially our platinum sponsor, QDS Healthcare; our gold sponsor, Primary Health Care Corporation; and our silver sponsor, Health Innovations. We look forward to working with them.”

Ms. Shaikha Al Qahtani, Director of Nursing for Wound Care at HMC and Chair of the Conference’s Organizing Committee said that the three-day conference will provide knowledge and information sharing on a range of different topics related to wound care. She said: “We have an extensive and comprehensive program and I am delighted that healthcare professionals from a number of organizations across Qatar will be attending. I am sure they will find it very useful and beneficial in their continuous learning about the practice of wound care.” She added: “We are proud to be holding this conference and look forward to welcoming leading experts in the field of wound care to Qatar.”

The HMC Wound Care Service was established in 2009 as part of the Mobile Services Administration at HGH and has cared for over 5,000 patients to date. Wound care has evolved into a modern and advanced medical specialization aimed at providing a quality medical service that contributes to healing serious and chronic wounds to avoid dangerous complications.
