The White House in a statement has said that "President Biden looks forward to welcoming Amir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani of Qatar to the White House on January 31, 2022."

As per the White House, the visit provides an opportunity for the President and H.H. the Amir to consult on a range of regional and global issues of mutual interest, including promoting security and prosperity in the Gulf and broader Middle East region, ensuring the stability of global energy supplies, supporting the people of Afghanistan, and strengthening commercial and investment cooperation between the countries.

In a statement the White House has also said that "the President will also thank Amir Tamim for Qatar’s extraordinary and ongoing effort to ensure the safe transit from Afghanistan of U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and Afghan partners. The President looks forward to this important visit and affirming the strong partnership between the United States and Qatar."
