H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met at his Amiri Diwan Office on 23 May 2021 with Head of the Political Bureau of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Dr. Ismail Haniyeh.
At the outset of the meeting, Dr. Haniyeh expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to H.H. the Amir for the State of Qatar's endeavors and diplomatic efforts that contributed to ending the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and reaching a calm and a ceasefire in Gaza, as well as its permanent support for the Palestinian people.
For his part, H.H. the Amir affirmed the State of Qatar's continued support for the brotherly Palestinian people and their just cause and the importance of the unity of Palestinian ranks in order to obtain their legitimate national rights, foremost among which is their right to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital in accordance with the two-state solution, international legitimacy decisions and the Arab Peace Initiative, and in a way that enhances security and stability in the region and the world.
Talks during the meeting also dealt with the latest developments in Palestine and efforts to rebuild Gaza.
Earlier, H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held a telephone conversation with H.E. President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas on the evening of 22 May 2021.
During the call, they discussed the latest developments in the situation in Palestine. H.E. the President briefed H.H. the Amir on the developments related to the pacification and the efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip, expressing his sincere thanks and appreciation to H.H. the Amir for the role of the State of Qatar and its efforts in support of the Palestinian people to obtain their legitimate national rights.
H.H. the Amir affirmed the importance of the unity of the Palestinian ranks, reiterating the State of Qatar's continuous support to the brotherly Palestinian people and their just cause, and continuing its efforts with Arab and Islamic parties and related countries to stop the Israeli attacks on the Palestinian people and the blessed Al Aqsa Mosque.
