H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani participated in the activities of Qatar Sport Day on Tuesday (February 12), as His Highness visited Aspire Zone Foundation's Football Skills Development Center, the official Qatar News Agency (QNA) reported.

Qatari Amir participated in different kinds of sport activities held by members of the Aspire Academy in the playground. He was also briefed on the facilities of the Aspire Zone and on the state-of-the-art technology used to train and develop the skills of its members.

There were different sports activities across the country to mark this year's celebration.

HE Sheikh Hassan bin Khalid Al-Thani, HH the Amir's Secretary for the Royal Family Affairs, thanked the participants in this wonderful celebration of the National Sport Day, where the celebration was very special, as the case in the Amiri Diwan's celebration every year.

The governmental and private institutions and bodies organised sports activities in the eighth edition of the National Sport Day in order to promote awareness of the importance of sports and its role in the lives of individuals and communities.

The Ministry of Justice and the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers celebrated the sport day with joint events at Al Markhiya Sports Club, in the presence of HE Minister of Justice and Acting Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Dr. Issa bin Saad Al Jafali Al Nuaimi, and HE Secretary-General of the Cabinet Hamad bin Ahmed Al Mohannadi amid the wide participation of the staff of the ministry and the secretariat.

The joint activities of the ministry and the secretariat included a number of sports activities aimed at the realization of the noble and lofty goals, taking into account the controls, standards and conditions set out in the resolution to regulate the physical and health activities of the participating staff, including activities for children with a view to instilling a culture of sport in young people.

The event included a friendly match between the ministry and the General Secretariat to encourage employees to play football, walking around the playground, and providing healthy snacks to raise awareness of the importance of linking healthy food culture to physical activity for sustainable health. In addition, medical staff examined the participants from the ministry of justice and the general secretariat of the council of ministers and advised the attendees to follow healthy eating habits and proper sports practices.
