H.H. the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, on 3 October 2023, laid the foundation stone of the North Field Expansion Project in the city of Ras Laffan.
The ceremony featured a documentary film on the phases of development of the North Field Expansion Project, which will raise Qatar's annual LNG production capacity from 77 million tons per annum to 126 million tons per annum by 2026, strengthening Qatar's leadership in LNG production worldwide.
H.E. Minister of State for Energy Affairs Eng., Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi delivered a speech on the occasion. Following the inauguration, HH the Amir toured the project, during which H.H. listened to an explanation of its goals and its ability to achieve sustainable growth and meet local and international needs for liquefied natural gas and its derivatives.
The ceremony was attended by a number of Their Excellencies the Ministers, CEOs, and senior officials of QatarEnergy's partners in the expansion project, and guests of the ceremony.
