The Committee of Electronic Media Officials in the Gulf Cooperation Council, headed by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the participation of the member states, held a meeting to discuss some visual materials and content by the popular streaming platform Netflix.
In view of what was recently observed that the Netflix platform broadcast some visual materials and content that violates the controls of media content in the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, which contradicts Islamic and societal values and principles, and accordingly, the Netflix platform was contacted to remove this content, including those directed to children and compliance by systems.
The council has confirmed that they will follow up on their commitment, and in the event that the infringing content continues to be broadcast, the necessary legal measures will be taken.
