Qatar’s growing demand for electricity and water must be met through careful planning and wise exploitation of the resources, said Issa Shaheen Al Ghanim, vice chairman of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa). Al Ghanim was addressing the annual planning forum of Kahramaa. Kahramaa’s development plans are aligned to meet Qatar’s growth in different sectors, including power and water production; distribution and transmission service, he said. Water supply across the border during emergency situations will be discussed during the plan period. The possibilities of trading and cooperation with the other countries in the energy sector are expected to gain momentum during the plan period, Al Ghanim said. Al Ghanim added that Qatarisation will continue to be the top priority of the Authority. Kahramaa Directors and top management officials attended the meeting. http://www.thepeninsulaqatar.com/Display_news.asp?section=Local%5FNews&subsection=Qatar+News&month=December2008&file=Local_News20081216415.xml
