Green comet c2022 e3 ztf al kharrara skies 1 february 2023

Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF), popularly known as the green comet, was discovered by astronomers with the use of the Zwicky Transient Facility in March 2022.

The comet is characterized by its greenish hue and will appear in the skies above Earth once it completes its orbit around the Sun while traveling to the edge of the solar system.

According to NASA, the green comet will be closest to the Earth on 1 February 2023 for the first time in approximately 50,000 years.

Ajith Everester, a Qatar-based astrophotographer, says the comet will be best seen in Qatar at Al Kharrara, Al Wakrah.

Ajith Everester shares with ILoveQatar.net (ILQ), "I have been tracking the comet the last few days and was able to see it through binoculars."

He and his team have organized an event for this occasion, and is completely free, with no registration required.
