The Emiri Diwan has announced the holiday dates during Eid Al Fitr for the public sector in Qatar. The holidays for ministries and other government entities and public institutions as well as Qatar Central Bank (QCB), banks, financial institutions under QCB’s jurisdiction, and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) will begin on July 3, 2016, and ends on Monday, July 11, 2016.

That’s a total of 11 days counting weekends, which is in line with the holidays granted to the public sector in previous years. However, the private sector in Qatar usually enjoys about a three days off for Eid.

The exact date of Eid is yet to be announced, pending the sighting of the new moon, but is expected to begin on Wednesday, July 6. The holiday of Eid al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the next lunar month, Shawwal.
