DOHA: Georgetown University School of Foreign Service in Qatar (SFSQ) students held a campus-wide Student Activities Commission (SAC) Fair. Many participated in networking and community engagement opportunity. An annual tradition of the school, the Fair featured entertainment, food and information about campus clubs and served as a platform for incoming students to join a fraternity of their inclination. Throughout the event, clubs such as SFSQ’s Brainfood tempted attendants with food, while the Photography Club exhibited an array of member-generated pictures.
“The SAC Fair is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the diverse set of student clubs, activities, service organizations, and sports teams that comprise student life at SFS-Q. We are excited to welcome the latest class of Hoyas and current student leaders into our student-driven extracurricular life,” said Alex Silberman, Students Development Officer. Also The Doha Debates and Brookings Institute, offering students their in-depth internships and work experience.
The award-winning Doha Debates’ Educational Outreach and Logistics co-coordinator, Sheelagh Windrum said: “We’ve actually taken part in the Georgetown SAC fair for the last three years; it gets bigger and better every time. It’s interesting that the students are much more aware every year of the Doha Debates and what we’re doing, which is excellent.”
Mariam Lacheen, a freshman, said, “I think it’s a great idea to introduce us to the different clubs that we have in Georgetown; like the debate club, Model United Nations, the Hope club, the Yearbook club - which is new – and they basically want to make students react and interact with the society around them which I think is very good.” The student organizations at SFSQ are diverse and range from Women’s Volleyball and Zones of Conflict, Zones of Peace to Center for Awakened Policy and Theater Club. Other student clubs at the Education City, home of SFSQ, also utilised the opportunity to present their activities at the Fair.
