Generation Amazing concluded on Tuesday its workshop on football for development, which was organized by the Qatar National Commission for Education, Culture and Science at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy (SC) and physical education department and center for educational training and development at the ministry.
Secretary-General of the commission Dr Hamda Al Sulaiti said Generation Amazing is one of Qatar's outstanding projects in the field of sports and the commission seeks to achieve and support in all public schools. She added that she looks forward to expanding it to all grades and schools in Qatar to become an international program that benefits many individuals around the world.
Al Sulaiti added that the workshop is complementary to the program which kicked off last year in 12 schools and the positive role and impact it had on the teachers and students. She added that the workshop aimed to train teachers of physical education in public schools through football, which contributes to the development and refinement of students' social and sporting skills, instil moral values in them and raise their competencies in the areas of cooperation, participation, problem-solving, decision-making and team spirit, in preparation for hosting Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.
She explained that the training sessions were prepared through football for the students of public schools throughout the current semester with the aim of enabling them to establish a healthy, united and sustainable society and discuss the problems faced by school students.
Head of the centre for educational training and development at the ministry Hessa Yousif Al Aali said talked about the role of the centre in ensuring the provision of all facilities to the trainees in the Generation Amazing program. She touched on the objectives of the workshop in developing and instilling social values and enhancing the life skills of students through football, which in turn contributes to building an integrated personality, reflected in the impact on the younger generations and gradually transferred to the culture of the Qatari society as a whole and inclusively.
She added that the great legacy to be gained over the coming years is not only the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup but also its effective and positive impact after the event.
Generation Amazing uses football for development initiatives to address social issues in countries with an identified need. Through the construction of community football pitches, the delivery of comprehensive football for development training and the involvement of young people, the program reaches some of the world's most excluded people, especially those experiencing high levels of deprivation. It also promotes sustainable behaviours among young people in Qatar and across the region.
