According to a report by Al Sharq, the General Traffic Department has launched a traffic plan to alleviate traffic jams on roads leading to schools with the beginning of the new school year.
Speaking to Al Sharq, Lt. Col. Jaber Muhammad Odaiba, Assistant Director of the Traffic Information and Awareness Department at the General Traffic Department, has confirmed the readiness of the General Traffic Department to receive the new school year ensuring that all preparations have been implemented which includes two parts: traffic points monitoring and traffic patrols.
Traffic points are being monitored in areas of Al Rayyan, Al Maamoura, Al Hilal, and Al Duhail, which have a number of schools and are expected to witness heavy traffic congestion.
The traffic patrols will be present at these points during the early morning and evening periods at the start and end of the school day. The patrols will be working on traffic congestion and expedite the flow of traffic. The traffic patrols will also be available to quickly respond to any road obstruction or accidents to ensure road safety.
