General Directorate of Traffic seized nearly 2000 vehicles during Ramadan inspection campaign

The General Directorate of Traffic seized nearly 2,000 vehicles in violation of the Traffic Law, as part of the inspection campaign for grave violations implemented by the Directorate during Ramadan, in all regions of the country, as part of its efforts to enhance safety and security and reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by traffic accidents.

First Lieutenant Tamim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, the investigation officer, explained in a press statement that the inspection campaign began on the first day of Ramadan and will continue until its last day. It aims to enhance road safety and reduce the incidence of traffic accidents by controlling serious violations and deterring drivers who commit such violations.

The campaign targets sound offences, tampering, organizing races, and other bodily offences in which the traffic law is not reconciled. He pointed out that the campaign resulted in the seizure of nearly 2,000 vehicles, and the violators were referred to the competent authorities to take legal action against them.

He explained that the campaign is based on the deployment and intensification of military and civil patrols and the establishment of daily checkpoints in all regions of the country, in addition to working on rapid intervention to follow up on traffic reports received from residential areas, and impose traffic discipline in the event that any serious traffic violations are reported. He called on everyone to communicate with the competent authorities to immediately report those violations.

He also called on all motorists to cooperate with traffic patrols and officers, abide by the law, follow all traffic safety requirements, and observe the rights of others to preserve lives and property.

The General Directorate of Traffic has organized this traffic campaign annually during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure the safety and security of all road users, provide the highest safety rates, and reduce traffic accidents.
