The Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Artificial Limbs, a hospital Qatar had built in Gaza City has come under attack by Israeli forces. The Israeli forces have been continuously bombing surrounding areas and, as a result, the headquarters and some of the hospital's departments have been damaged and the hospital which provides prosthetic limbs to people who lost theirs in accidents or conflicts, has to halt its services to ensure the staff and patients are safe, according to the Qatar Tribune.
Director-General of Hamad Hospital Dr. Rafat Lubbad strongly condemned the constant bombing which has negatively affected the hospital and led to stop its services due to concerns for staff and patient’s safety.
The Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Artificial Limbs, which has been named after His Highness the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad Al Khalifa Al Thani, is the first hospital of its kind in Gaza and also offers services to children who may have motor disabilities or hearing impairments. Funded by Qatar Fund for Development serves disabled people through its three departments (prosthetic department - rehabilitation department - audiology department).
This is the third attack on a Qatari institution since the high rise building that housed Al Jazeera and other international media outlets was razed to the ground on Saturday and the Qatar Red Crescent headquarter in Gaza was severely damaged by Israeli forces just yesterday.
