Qatar-French bilateral relations have grown beyond expectation, French Ambassador Gilles Bonnaud said in Doha yesterday at a reception he hosted on his country’s National Day. Bonnaud pointed out the significance of the Qatari mediation in the Darfur crisis, and the Qatari determination to end the volatility in this region, recalling the French President’s efforts in this regard. “A solution regarding the Darfur crisis is not easy to achieve, however, all parties and mediating countries are deploying huge efforts”, he said, adding that the talks had slowed down because of the summer vacation. The ambassador noted that the economic and cultural ties between Qatar and France were special. Bonnaud received French and Qatari community members, where he noted that it was his first National Day celebration in Doha. The reception was attended by Qatar’s Minister of Education HE Saad bin Ibrahim al-Mahmoud, the head of the Central Municipal Council Nasser al-Kaabi and ambassadors. http://gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=303179&version=1&template_id=36&parent_id=16
