According to The Peninsula, an official from the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar reports that the Corniche waterfront will have four new underpasses for ease of access and improve pedestrian movement.
These four new underpasses include the Al Dafna Tunnel, Corniche Station Tunnel and West Bay Station Tunnel, and the Museum of Islamic Art Tunnel, connecting the said areas to the Corniche. Footpaths, pedestrian crossings, and bike lanes are also a part of the underpasses.
In an interview with Qatar Radio, Engineer Laila Jassim Salem, project design manager at the Supervisory Committee of Beautification of Roads and Public Places in Qatar, said that the tunnels will allow pedestrians to reach the Corniche waterfront without having to cross the road.
