His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister, today telephoned His Excellency foreign minister Dmitro Koliba of Ukraine.
During the contact, an update on the crisis between Russia and Ukraine was reviewed. H.E. the deputy prime minister and foreign minister reiterated Qatar's call for all parties to exercise restraint and resolve the dispute through constructive dialogue, diplomatic methods and the peaceful resolution of international disputes, and not to take any action that would lead to further escalation.
His Excellency stressed the need to ensure the safety of civilians and considers this a top priority.
He also stressed the position of the state of Qatar and its concern for the charter of the United Nations and the well-established principles of international law, including obligations under the charter to resolve international disputes by peaceful means, refrain from threatening or using force, and abide by the sovereignty and independence of states and their territorial integrity.
