Food services firm gets certification

Qatar Star Services has been awarded the coveted Food Safety Management System ISO 22000:2005 certification. Speaking at a reception to celebrate the achievement,Qatar Star General Manager Samir Elbaba said it was a momentous event for the company. According to him, the award is a “seal of excellence” that ensures a “controlled food operating environment with effective implementation in food handling and safety”. Elbaba said: “Qatar Star being awarded with such distinction makes them confident that whatever they serve to the consumer has gone through the international safety system standard - from the supplier, to the food preparation process up to the consumer. ISO 22000:2005 encompasses Good Catering Practices, Sanitation Standard Operating Standard and most importantly the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point among other pre-requisite specifications.” ISO 22000:2005 is one of the highest international food safety standards. Interteck International conducted the audit based on international standards complemented by actual and documented policies. The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Jabor bin Khalid al-Thani, who received the recognition on behalf of Qatar Star Services from the Country Manager of Interteck Qatar, Jason Pereira. Gulf Times
