Lulu Hypermarket in Al Gharrafa is taking customers on a culinary trip of different parts of the world through three events — Mediterranean Food Festival, Mexican Delights, and Asian Food Festival. The events are being hosted by Lulu Hypermarket Group as part of its Food Fiesta 2013 and were inaugurated yesterday at Lulu Hypermarket, Al Gharrafa, by diplomats from several Mediterranean and Asian countries in the presence of dignitaries and senior executives from leading business groups in the retail sector. The festival aims to highlight Mediterranean, Mexican and Asian food and food products and to make them popular in the local community. Lulu Hypermarket Group has been organising the Food Fiesta for the last 10 years, and the response, it claims, has been overwhelming. Mediterranean cuisine bears the mark of great civilizations of the past and has an eventful history. Mexican food is increasingly becoming popular. It is elaborate and often tied to symbolism and festivals, one of the reasons it was named an example of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity by Unesco. Traditional Mexican cuisine is a comprehensive cultural model comprising of planting and harvesting to cooking and eating. An official from the Lulu management said the festival will continue for a week and the necessary arrangements had been made for the customers to taste the versatility of Mediterranean, Mexican and Asian cuisine and buy the food products of their choice. The food festival will conclude with a cookery contest on April 28. Source : Qatar Chronicle
